![]() ![]() Tweeten has even earned a permanent spot on my MacBook’s dock. But those issues haven’t stopped me from opening up Tweeten instead of TweetDeck every morning - I had actually forgotten TweetDeck was going away until my co-workers started talking about it in Slack this morning. I think TweetDeck looks nicer, and I sometimes run into a bug where notifications appear in the middle of my screen after I plug my MacBook Air back into my monitor. First and foremost, you can manage multiple Twitter accounts, organize their contents in versatile columns for things such as mentions, notifications, lists, collections, activity, likes, messages. I have a couple small issues with Tweeten. You can like and retweet a tweet right from the notification, as well as set things like which corner of the screen they appear in and how long they stay visible. And I find Tweeten’s custom notifications to be far more powerful. Tweeten offers more ways to tweak the app to your liking in the settings menu. Image: Tweetenīut Tweeten has a few things I like better than the native TweetDeck app. Seriously, just look at this Tweeten screenshot - if you’ve ever used TweetDeck before, I suspect this layout will look familiar: Glorious columns. Like Twitter’s official power user app, Tweeten lets you do things like tweet right from the client and make columns of all different kinds so that you can plug into the matrix. I downloaded it up a day or two after Twitter announced TweetDeck was going away, and I haven’t looked back. But if you’re looking for a replacement, you should seriously check out Tweeten. I rely on the TweetDeck app for my job as a news writer here at The Verge - I live for my alerts about big news and like being able to scroll the infinity of my Twitter columns - and I was disappointed to hear TweetDeck was going away. ![]() A Chrome extension is also coming later this year.TweetDeck for Mac will shut down in just two days on July 1st. The new version of Tweeten is available to download for Windows and Mac from here, and an update to the Windows Store app should be available today. However, today's release is the first edition not to support 32-bit Windows PCs. Mehedi said that he has more "exciting things planned for the future of Tweeten", which will roll out in the coming months. And on both Mac and Windows, there's an overhauled auto-update system, which includes background installation of hotfixes without users needing to do anything. Owners of the MacBook Pro with Touch Bar are getting some extra love in the latest version of Tweeten as well, with integrated support for the "the most important shortcuts" in the app. Zip It Remove annoying people or keywords from your timeline without unfollowing. Photo Effects Add cool filters and captions to photos, as you upload them. Manage and easily post to multiple accounts. There are more customization options too, with a redesigned Settings center, and users can even use custom CSS to further tweak the look and functionality of the app. TweetCaster has a gorgeous look with an intuitive interface that makes it super easy to use while packing in tons of features. You'll also be able to add images to your tweets and direct messages directly from the clipboard. We’re also working on a new GIF Search feature, which will be coming later this Summer. There’s also a new Download GIF feature which lets you download GIFs on tweets while you do other things on Tweeten and the new option to automatically pause GIFs will make it much easier for you to focus on your work. It’s extremely hard to get all the details in a GIF on Twitter, but the new GIF Zoom feature built into Tweeten lets you get all the details without hurting your eyeballs. ![]() We’re innovating a new GIF Zoom feature which lets you get a much better view for GIFs. along with improvements for adding GIFs in tweets, as Mehedi explained: For example, you'll find a new emoji picker: The improvements go beyond just a speed boost and a lick of paint, though there are also new features that aim to please those discerning power users. On top of that, it also has a new look, as its developer, Mehedi Hassan, pointed out: "The new design means Tweeten looks incredible for light theme users, and if you've been a fan of our dark theme, the new Tweeten will make you like it even more." ![]()
